Algorithm

The task was to create an algorithm for humans and execute it several times. Iterate through the results and refine the pseudo-code. Afterwards the algorithm was ported to the Processing programming language and improved. Finally the students needed to find a use case for their algorithms.

Processing is used to explore the creative possibilities of coding, starting from analog algorithms and pattern instructions.

Dotted Diamond Pattern

Our first task was to frame an algorithm for people to follow and implement it. It was important to define and use correct words to have the wanted results.

Fractal Music Visualization

This is an algorithm, that makes music graspable on a visual level with the help of recursion and iteration. It is based on an analogue algorithm, executed by people other than me, à la Sol LeWitt.

GrowingLines

Growing lines is a processing project that disputes with Generative structures and automatic pattern generation. My final work was inspired from my analog algorithms which were realized by persons.At the end the pattern was transferred again into the analog world in form of a product.

AlgoCircles

AlgoCircles is a processing project containing my experiments with generative design. Originating from the same analog algorythm (phenotype), I created different modifications, which could be used in different scenarios. The 'grid_circle_visual' is an approach which could be used as a branding tool, generating different variations of the same logo-kind.

Abstract Weather

PentaGone

Starting from a single pentagon, the algorithm feeds itself coordinates generated from the pentagons vertices, creating a crystaline structure.

DELTA

DELTA is inspired by the patterns formed as rivers join the ocean. Natural patterns like these can be inspiring to create visualizations for the digital age. Think of streams of data from multiple locations flowing together.

MovingAlgorythm

In this project, we compared the analog and the digital worlds by doing some exercises in which a person had to follow some simple steps. Then we transformed those steps into coding lenguage, so that the computer could understand.

Circles

This Project was made for the 'Input/Output' at the University of applied sciences Potsdam by Oskar Suslow. It is an algorithm made in Processing. In this Project we have learned the basics in Processing and how coding works.

Identity

A simple drawing algorithm was developed, expressed in common language and translated into code. The resulting generated graphic served as the core theme of a brand identity.

Translating a simple analog algorithm into code isn't easy at all. I had to make some sacrifice my initial idea and created an all new algortihm digitally.

The Aesthetics of National Flags

Flags are symbolic visual systems that are often designed based on a nations history and origins and not necessarily on aesthetics. Visual as they are, they often - intended or unintended - create specific sentiments to the viewer. Being the most important visual representation of a state, I want to examine what flags are perceived especially beneficial or unfavorable for its state when viewed by others.

NEXUS

NEXUS experiments with the visualization of location based data. A network out of important personal locations are abstracted and put into context with each other. The results are abstract forms unique to the person and remind of molecule chains.
